This study evaluates the influence of the four seasons and twelve months of the year on the micrometeorological variables of global solar radiation, air temperature, and relative air humidity in different protected environments for plant production. The protected environment types and the characteristics of the shade screen modify the indoor air temperature. This environment provides greater relative humidity. Se diseñó un sistema electrónico de telemetría, basado en microcontroladores PIC como centro de procesamiento y transceptores LINX de comunicación inalámbrica, para el monitoreo de humedad relativa, temperatura y humedad del sustrato en invernadero. El sistema cuenta con un módulo central que coordina las mediciones y almacena los datos de cinco unidades remotas que contienen los sensores. Como parte del software se implementó un protocolo de comunicación bidireccional que permite el control y flujo de información entre los dispositivos. El cultivo de litchi (Litchi Chinensis Sonn.) presenta fuerte alternancia de producción, ya que se estableció en diferentes zonas sin considerar los requerimientos climáticos de la especie. El objetivo fue evaluar la interacción genotipo-ambiente, en las fases de floración y fructificación, conocer las prácticas de manejo y determinar la calidad de fruto en huertas de litchi de la zona centro y norte del estado de Veracruz. La especie Heliconia psittacorum L. f. cv. Trópica se ha identificado en los últimos años como una ornamental tropical con gran demanda debido a su belleza y a su vida postcosecha prolongada, que puede superar los 15 días; sin embargo, se desconoce el manejo postcosecha adecuado durante su comercialización. The Drake Passage (DP) links the Southern Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, and acts as a physical narrowing for the largest current of the World Ocean, the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC). This result in a constriction of the main circumpolar fronts related to the ACC: the Subantarctic Front, the Polar Front, the Southern Antarctic Circumpolar Current Front and the Continental Water Boundary Front. At present, reforestation has focused on native forests with anthropogenic intervention and eroded soils. There is interest in producing Nothofagus seedlings which can overcome adverse conditions encountered on reforestation sites. It is necessary to find new fungi that can be utilized as mycorrhizal inoculants and that enable the seedlings to increase their tolerance to adverse conditions. Two ectomycorrhizal strains of the fungus Descolea antarctica (D1 and D2) were cultured at different temperatures, pH levels and the activities of amylases, cellulases, and phosphatases were determined. Effects of temperature on the sorption of Pb2+ and Cd2+ from aqueous solution by Caladium bicolor (Wild Cocoyam) biomass Electron. J. Biotechnol.

This report is based on the investigation of the effect of temperature on the removal of Pb2+ and Cd2+ in aqueous effluent using C. bicolor biomass in a batch sorption process. The result showed that the most suitable sorption temperature was 40ºC with maximum sorption capacities of 49.02 mg/g and 52.63 mg/g for Pb2+ and Cd2+ respectively. Various thermodynamic parameters, such as ΔGº, ΔHº, ΔSº and Ea have been calculated. The data showed that the sorption process is spontaneous and exothermic in nature and that lower solution temperatures favours metal ion removal by the biomass. ABSTRACT This study consisted of designing and building an experimental dryer that allows working with different temperatures and velocities of the air, aiming to perform studies on thin- and thick-layer drying of agricultural products. The project was divided into three stages: heat source designing, dryer geometric parameters, and fan selection to meet operational demand. Heating was made by a set of six electrical resistances totaling 12 kW and the drying bed in thin layer was composed of two trays with diameter of 0.20 m. Operational demands were met using a centrifugal fan with a power rating of 735.5 W. The used methodology was able to size the experimental dryers for thin- and thick-layer drying working at distinct temperatures and air velocities.

ABSTRACT Knowledge on sorption isotherms is important for predicting drying and storage processes of a product. A sorption isotherm can be generated from two processes: desorption and adsorption. The lag between these two curves is called hysteresis. Static method was used to obtain the equilibrium moisture content of paddy rice grains, in different temperature (10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 ± 1°C) and relative humidity (between 11 and 76% ± 2%) conditions. Kinetic properties and thermal stabilities of Geophagus brasiliensis skeletal muscle unfractionated malate dehydrogenase (MDH, EC 1.1.1.37) and its isolated isoforms were analyzed to examine a possible sMDH-B* locus duplication in a fixation process influenced by genetic drift. Two optimal pHs were detected: 7.5 for AB1 unfractionated muscle phenotype and its B1 isoform, and 8.0 for AB1B2 unfractionated muscle phenotype, A and B2 isoforms. While G. brasiliensis A isoform could be characterized as thermostable, the duplicated B isoform cannot be assumed as thermolabile. The most polymorphic chromosome for inversions in Drosophila mediopunctata is the chromosome II, where 17 inversions have been found, eight of which occurring in the distal region and nine in the proximal region. We present an analysis of the chromosome II inversion polymorphism with respect to seasonal, altitudinal and latitudinal variation. In D. mediopunctata from the Parque Nacional do Itatiaia (southeastern Brazil), the frequencies of three of the distal inversions (namely DA, DS, and DP) vary seasonally. That's why storage condition is one of the most important issues to maintain post-harvest quality. For this purpose, a factorial experiment based on randomized complete block design with two factors and three replicates was carried out.
